Two recent accidents at a CDC lab involving anthrax bacteria and a dangerous H5N1 bird flu strain as well as the discovery in an FDA lab storage room of several vials of small pox virus from the 1950's is a reminder of the need to pray for vaccine safety in all stages of development. All three accidents are attributed to human error. Please join me in praying that the workers entrusted with handling these substances use greater care to protect the public and themselves and that administrators, government officials, lawmakers and others responsible for overseeing these facilities, enforce policies and regulations that protect all of us from human error that can have deadly consequences. You can learn more about these recent incidents below; but most importantly, please take a moment today to pray for vaccine safety. Thank you and God bless . . .
“We have a high degree of confidence that no one was exposed,” said Dr. Thomas Frieden, the C.D.C. director.
Although anthrax terrifies laymen, “when you work with it day in and day out, you can get a little careless,” Dr. Frieden said. “The culture of safety needs to improve at some C.D.C. laboratories.” Comments are closed.
