In this powerful Facebook video commentary, Kami Altenberg Schaal, a nurse of 22 years, shares her experience when four out of five members of her fully vaccinated family (including boosters and measured titers) came down with mumps. Kami did everything right, including reporting the outbreak to her health department who refused to inform her school district of her family's fully vaccinated status “because it could give the 'anti-vax' movement some fodder, some assistance.”
Kami experienced first hand the rude and ignorant comments that parents of vaccine injured children often endure from pro-vaccine advocates; and she urges those who might be quick to judge and point fingers to be kinder to those who have experienced vaccine injury and loss.
