Please join us as we pray for the protection of religious freedom and vaccine choice! "Update 3/16: Today, hundreds of parents and professionals are planning to testify on A1931, a bill to restrict the religious exemption to vaccination in New Jersey on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10:00 am in the Committee Rm 11, 4th floor State House Annex. A1931requires a written statement “explaining how the administration of the vaccine conflicts with the bona fide religious tenets or practices of the student, or the parent or guardian.” As such, it requires that parents justify their deeply held personal and private religious beliefs to the government for approval. This bill is designed to make it more difficult for parents to obtain an exemption. A1931 is discriminatory because the state will determine what is and is not a legitimate religious belief. This sets the stage for the unfair application of its dictates for people of various faiths." There are currently bills being proposed to restrict or remove religious freedom and vaccine choice rights throughout the United States. Washington State, Oregon and Maryland, have been successful -- at least for now -- in having bills withdrawn or defeated. As I write this post, a hearing is underway in Trenton, New Jersey, USA on Bill A1931 which threatens an individual's or a parent's rights to claim a religious vaccine exemption if one or all vaccines violate the person's deeply held religious beliefs. The headquarters for vaccine industry giant, Merck & Co is in New Jersey; so the battle in NJ could face additional challenges. If approved, A1931 and sister bill S1147 are expected to be "linked" together at some point and will require the individual or parent to explain their religious beliefs in "a written statement, to be notarized signed, and sworn by the person submitting the statement." The statement must also conform to the bills' specifications in order to be deemed a valid belief. No matter how one feels about the vaccine issue, this threat to religious freedom should be cause for very serious concern. A person's religious beliefs are between the individual and their God; and no man should be given the power to decide whether or not that belief is valid. It's easy for those of us who do not have young children or grandchildren to think that this doesn't affect us. Let me assure you that it does. With the proposed National Adult Immunization Plan and the new recommendations for vaccines during pregnancy, all adults, including pregnant women will be pressured to get more and more vaccines. Without the right to a religious or philosophical/personal belief exemption, you could be forced to be vaccinated against your will with any or all vaccines that our government mandates, in order to keep a job, participate in an activity, travel, etc. If you use Facebook, you can stay current on what is happening today in New Jersey at the Vaccine Choice Prayer Community Facebook page. Please take time today -- throughout the day -- to offer a thought, a prayer, a moment or two of silence for the protection of religious freedom and vaccine choice rights in New Jersey, across the United States and throughout our world. God bless and take care . . . To learn what is happening in your state, visit and register at the NVIC (National Vaccine Information Center) Advocacy Portal.
