Farewell Sweet Ariella . . .

I first learned of Ariella's story in June 2015, when her mother, Raquel, shared a post on Facebook which I then included on this website. (Click here to read that initial post.) Raquel kept us informed of Ari's progress and her setbacks. It didn't take long to fall in love with Ari or be inspired by the love and devotion that Raquel and Ari's dad, Victor, had for their sweet daughter and for each other.

Ariella was a perfectly healthy baby girl who became severely vaccine injured in 2014 as a result of the four month vaccines (DTaP, Hib, IPV, Rotavirus, PCV, Hep B) she received at her pediatric "wellness visit". 

​Raquel's instinct told her not to proceed with the vaccines; but like many parents, she was coerced by the nurse and intimidated.

​"I could feel God tugging at me to decline them. I did. I told the nurse no. She assured me my baby was fine and would remain fine. She told me DCF could be called if any one finds out my baby isn't vaccinated, that it is medical neglect. I was so scared so I turned my back on my baby. I just looked the other way and said "fine" and she got her shots as she sat in her daddies lap. I knew in that moment I had failed her. I felt it in my gut, but I ignored it."

As Ariella's health deteriorated, doctors gave her little chance of survival; but her determined young mother and devoted father would not accept that prognosis.  Instead, they immersed themselves into a world of organic foods, and alternative natural healing methods; and despite challenges including Ariella being placed on life support in June, 2015; Raquel and Victor made sure that Ariella's all too brief life was filled with love and significance. ​

​Although I never met Ari or her mom and dad,  like countless other Facebook friends, I shared their excitement when Ariella got her "stander" just weeks ago and was able to experience the world around her in a new way.

​I remember being thrilled when I learned that Ariella was going to be a big sister; and waited with anticipation for the baby's arrival. I was overjoyed when Raquel's home birth on August 17th resulted in a beautiful and healthy baby girl named Zia; and how happy I was to see those first photos of little Zia, especially this one of Ari and Victor welcoming her into the family.

​Then, on August 24th, I saw this photo of Victor, Raquel and Ari and my initial thought was, "That's a beautiful family photo, but where is Zia?"  As I read a few comments, I knew that something was terribly wrong.  In disbelief, I read comment after comment and the tears started flowing as I learned that, early that morning, our sweet Ariella unexpectedly passed away and went home to heaven.

I will miss the photos and updates of the sweet little girl that has touched so many of our hearts; but I will not forget Ari and, in keeping with her parents' request, I will share Ari's story.

I smile at the thought of Ari healthy and whole in a safe and beautiful place with the many other vaccine injured angels who went before her and inspire me to do all that I can to educate, advocate and encourage prayer for the protection of vaccine choice; that parents will become better informed; and that the truth will be made known that vaccines can and do cause serious injury and death.

You can read this story and simply offer a thought or prayer for Ariella's family; and I hope you do. However, I also hope and encourage you to go one step further -- to share this story as a tribute to Ariella's memory and in an effort to save other children from vaccine harm and families from heartache.  God bless and take care . . .
