Vaccines and Religious Beliefs

In May, I shared a post by Courtney Charles entitled, "Do Vaccines Violate the Christian Faith?" In the following post, "Calling All Christians" Courtney addresses the use of aborted fetal cell vaccines, and the dilemma that causes for those opposed to abortion, especially in light of the recent approval of CA SB277 which eliminates religious and personal belief exemptions. Inspired by a scripture passage, Courtney's message speaks to both Christians and non-Christians who oppose vaccines due to deeply held religious beliefs.  It also reminds me of the scripture passage that "nudged" me to start Vaccine Choice Prayer Community.  Read about that here.

Calling All Christians

War has been launched. A war against our children, and even more subtly (for now) a war against our faith.

Today's post was partly inspired by the message at church this weekend. A fantastic message about never bending on our Christian principles. The Scripture we studied as we are currently going through Daniel was Daniel Chapter 3 where King Nebuchadnezzar made a golden statue and with it a law that commanded everyone in the land (Babylon, where there were currently Jews in exile) to bow down and worship the golden image every time the music started to play and if anyone did not they would be burned alive in a furnace. 

My Pastor pointed out that it would have been really easy for the believers in the True Living God to reason their way around this conflict by excusing their worship by any of the following reasons:
1. God sees their heart and will know that while their body is bowing their heart is not.
2. If they are burned alive there will be no one to influence the rest of the people for    God.
3. It is the law of the land.

But there were 3 Jews present, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who had predetermined that they would not bend and they would not bow and they would stand up in obedience to God no matter what the cost. The informed the King that they knew God could save them, but even if He chose not to, they would not bow. When he threw them bound into the fire, he saw a 4th man in there with them. It was Jesus. They came out unbound and untouched by the fire.

I'm getting to my point. Our Pastor had a different application, but I couldn't help applying this to the vaccine war waged against our children right now. Last week, SB 277 was passed into law in California (where I live) enforcing every child who wants to attend school to be vaccinated.
